Spring Zine Tour continues!
Plus some other updates!
Greetings, zine lovers!
I’m tabling two upcoming zine fests, after sadly having to skip a stop on my “spring zine tour” in Tucson, AZ. Next weekend, I’ll be at Santa Rosa Zine Fest in Santa Rosa, CA, as well as Dear Diary Zine Fest in Oakland, CA. Big Bay Area zine weekend!! SRZF is Saturday and DDZF is Sunday.
Am I ready for these zine fests? Who knows, man. I haven’t really taken stock of what’s leftover from Grid a month ago, since I decided not to go to Tucson it didn’t feel urgent, but I should probably do that like, this weekend. I’ve said I’m going to work on a new perzine for DDZF, but I don’t want to push it. I’m almost done with something, Could’ve Been Wild Could’ve Been Free #5, so maybe I can knock that out. And by “almost done,” I mean I have a finished product that I’m not sure I’m happy with, so I might redo the whole thing! Or part of it! Who knows, man!
Best in Show III is also wrapping up this weekend at Crisis Club - check it out if you haven’t!!! (please)
I’ve been in kind of a zine-making rut lately. My monthly mini zine club is going strong, but that’s one mini zine a month, and as someone who leads two monthly zine making nights, that feels feasible. But something for me just feels hard right now. It took me so long to finish the first Crisis Club Zine Club zine of the year (but my laptop was kinda broken for a few weeks, so I’m giving myself a slight pass), I’ve got several collaborative zine ideas I want to put together but don’t have the drive to promote.
I finished recording season 6 of the podcast and am just waiting for all the episodes to come out - I’m going to start recording season 7 next week, which will start airing this summer. If you want to know who’s going to be on the show ahead of time, in case you want to ask them specific questions, you can support the podcast here.
Zine fest planning for Bay Area Queer Zine Fest has also kicked off. We have a date and venue and things are looking like they’ll be smooth!
That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
xoxo, Maira
